Senator representing Osun West Senatorial District (PDP) on the floor of the Senate, Ademola Adeleke on Monday officially expressed his intention to contest in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

Adeleke made his intention known in a letter written to the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP on Monday.

The letter which was obtained exclusively by the Newsclickng.com was written on the senator’s official letter head paper.

“In accordance with the leadership of our great party, I wish to respectfully express my interest to vie for the ticket of the party as its candidate in the Osun State Governorship election holding on September 22, 2018,” the first paragraph of the letter reads.

Adeleke while explaining his reason for seeking the party’s ticket said: “My decision to express this intent is based on a conviction that I possess all it takes to unite leaders and members of our party as well as galvanise the general electorate towards ensuring a resounding victory for the PDP in the forthcoming poll.”

Newsclickng.com reports that Ademola Adeleke is the younger brother of the late Isiaka Adeleke who died in April last year after a brief illness.

The late Isiaka Adeleke was a two time senator elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party in Osun State from 2007 to 2011 and was elected again on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015.

He however did not finish his second tenure when death came calling in 2017.
However, Adeleke’s younger brother, Ademola who continued his brother’s mandate was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

He defeated APC’s Mudashiru Hussein who was also a former senator. He is widely loved for his energetic dance moves.

The late Isiaka Adeleke was also the first civilian governor of Osun State.
