The sixth day of the 24-hour curfew imposed on Ikare-Akoko in Ondo State’s Akoko Northeast Local Government has begun to take its toll on residents.

Residents have demanded that the curfew be lifted by the state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.

The curfew was imposed by the governor after a communal clash which led to the killing of five persons, the burning of six vehicles, and buildings and the looting of shops.

A heavy security presence was reportedly seen in the neighbourhood.

Also, security officers only allowed people seeking medical attention to move around, reports The Nation.

While schools across the state have resumed for a new academic term, schools in Ikare-Akoko are shut owing to the curfew.
