The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, has condemned the death by a police officer of a female lawyer, Bolanle Raheem.

Bolanle was killed yesterday while attempting to make a U-turn under Lagos’ Ajah Bridge. Bolanle was said to have taken her family to a restaurant for Christmas celebrations before being pursued by a cop who fired at her vehicle. The bullet struck her, and she was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she died.

In response to the heinous incident, NBA National Publicity Secretary Akorede Lawal described it as unfortunate, noting that the association’s president, Yakubu Maikyau, was monitoring the situation.

He disclosed this via his Twitter handle. According to him: “We are aware of this unfortunate incident. This is yet another crime against a lawyer. Regrettably, our member is gone. The NBA President @YCMaikyauSAN is right on this and we shall ensure that justice is duly served.”
