Kidnappers abduct, kill Bauchi lawmaker’s son

Bala Ali, the eldest son of a Bauchi State House of Assembly member representing Dass Constituency, was killed by suspected kidnappers.

Abdul Burra, the Spokesperson for House Speaker Abubakar Suleiman, who shared the Assembly’s plenary proceedings with our correspondent on Tuesday night, stated that the member representing Burra Constituency, Ado Wakili, disclosed this during the House’s sitting under personal explanation.

Danlami Ahmed Kawule, the Deputy Speaker of the House, presided over Tuesday’s plenary.

According to him, the lawmaker who expressed his condolences to the Members following the murder of his colleague’s son called the incident “tragic” and prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased and grant him Jannatul Firdaus.

Responding to the motion, the Speaker directed that a special prayer be conducted for the deceased. Bello Shira representing Shira Constituency led a special prayer.

The speaker announced that the lawmakers would pay a condolence visit to the member and his family immediately after the plenary.

Burra said that Baballe Dambam representing Dambam/Zagaya/Jalam Constituency while narrating what happened explained that the deceased was kidnapped by unknown people who held him for days and subsequently killed him.

He said that described the incident as shocking and disturbing adding that the funeral prayers for the deceased has already taken place.

The then-member representing Dass Constituency, Musa Baraza, was attacked and killed on 14th August 2020 by yet-to-be-identified gunmen.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command, Amed Wakil, who confirmed the incident to journalists said that the deceased’s two wives and one-year-old child were also abducted by the gunmen.

They were later released from captivity after several days in captivity.
