The Ondo State Government was ordered on Wednesday by an Ondo High Court in Akure to pay N30 million to Oluwasegun Oluwarotimi as compensation for the gunshot wounds he sustained in a confrontation with members of the State Security Network, often known as the Amotekun Corps.

Oluwarotimi, a 36-year-old okada rider, was involved in the incident.

In his ruling, Justice Adejumo mandated that Oluwarotimi be compensated for his losses in the amount of thirty million naira.

Oluwarotimi had brought the issue before the court; as a result of the unlawful shooting, he is now an amputee.

“The illegal shooting at Araromi Street on August 9, 2021 in Akure by the Amotekun was a violation of the applicant’s human right.

“The court hereby orders the respondents to jointly pay the sum of N20 million to the applicant as general damages and N10 million as exemplary damages,” the judge ordered.
