Usman Baba, the Inspector-General of Police, has ordered an investigation into comments made by controversial musician Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, that he founded a cult group.

Portable boasted in a viral video of having formed the One Million Boys cult group.

The cult group sparked unrest in Lagos and Ogun States.

The sponsors and faces behind the cult group had previously gone unnoticed.

In the eight seconds video, Portable claimed he founded the group.

“Listen to me well, have you heard about Ajah Boys and One Million Boys? I am their founder. Go and ask Sammy Larry,” the controversial singer said.

Meanwhile, the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, in a statement on Monday, said the IGP had ordered the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to investigate his claim.

The statement read, “Sequel to the trending video of one Habeeb Okikiola aka Portable where he claimed to have formed the One-Million Boys cult group terrorising some parts of Lagos State, the IGP has ordered CP Lagos to investigate the indicting statement and take necessary legal action.

“This directive is premised on the continuous efforts of the Nigeria Police Force to fish out pillars and sponsors of cult groups in order to decimate their activities and restore sanity to our society.”

Newsclick Nigeria had reported how the Ogun State Police Command had on June 20, 2022, threatened to declare the singer wanted after 48 hours if he failed to report himself for organising some youths to beat up his estranged friend identified as DJ Chicken.
