Petrolex Group, a leading energy conglomerate in Nigeria will commission the first phase of its mega Oil city at Ibefun, Ogun state on Tuesday December 12, 2017 which will decongest Apapa gridlock by 60 percent.

Petrolex mega Oil city is an investment worth millions of dollars. The tank farms in the Oil city has the capacity to turnover 600 million litres of petroleum products every month. This turnover will change the present petroleum products storage and distribution in Nigeria as it will cater to about 60% of Nigeria’sneed.

This way, Apapa which is home to Nigeria’s busiest Seaports and several Tank farms will be decongested. I spite of the importance of Apapa to business activities in Nigeria, government has done little or nothing to help the deplorable condition of Apapa by not providing the needed infrastructural development that will cater to the growing needs of Apapa.

Petrolex Oil city’s decongestion of Apapa will be possible because of the Oil city’s strategic location outside of Apapa. The Oil city will be easily accessible by land and waterways. Products will easily be shipped in and out through fleets of barges sailing through the river on the site. The Oil city at the moment, has 10 barges, 2 tugboats and a daughter vessel. 6 more barges and 6 more tugboats are expected, they will help in strengthening products distribution.

Segun Adebutu, Chairman and CEO of Petrolex Oil and Gas limited, during a media tour of the site said that;

” As a solutions-driven company, we are positioned to drive increased efficiency and consistent value creation across West African downstream Oil and Gas value chain through our strategic investments and the delivery of superior quality products and services

Working with our diverse stakeholders, the successful completion of the first phase of our mega Oil city in Ibefun- Ogun state, Nigeria, demonstratesour disciplined approach to project management and signposts our ability to execute large scale energy development projects that will move the region forward”
